When our good friend Jennifer sent us a link showing this retreat center for sale, we decided to drive to the South of France to find out what it was all about. Well, we fell in love with the peaceful feeling of this place! The owner, Nigel, had lived and worked here for almost 30 years. His daughter, Anna, was running the business now and they had decided that it was time for new adventures.  

Several visits later, we made the decision that we would be the new owners of La Roane and in January 2025 we moved down here. This was an opportunity of a lifetime. We knew that it would be a lot of hard work. A lot. But we are up for it.

Bill, being a professional coach, works online (ask him when you see him and he will tell you what he does), so he is taking his business with him while I run the retreat center. Well, he does the maintenance too. Oh, and he’s the financial adviser guy. That MBA sure was a good investment!  In other words, he is my rock. He’s an engineer and has worked as a carpenter, so we’re in great hands!

I have experience working as a project manager and I do like to be organised. I also love learning new things, so building this website is my side hobby. But at some point, do not fret, I will get professional help there too. I also love nature and taking care of people. We have three sons. Just ask them, when you see them.

Our first retreat starts in March 2025 with a Yoga Teacher Training. We are really looking forward to it.

The season is almost full as I write this and that is the amazing thing about this place. We not only found a gem in a magical countryside oasis, but we discovered that the clients keep on coming back! Now if that is not a sign that it’s a place people love and feel well, I don’t know what is. So, when deciding on the name we would like to give to La Roane when we are running our retreat center here, “A Place To Be Well” popped into my head. “Yes!” said Bill.

But La Roane is the original place name. We have the sign at the entrance. It’s also the road name now. So it will always be La Roane.

We have met the most wonderful people. From Nigel, his daughter Anna, the other Anna (“Anna V”) to our new friend Lou who knows the ins and outs of so many things around here, we are so grateful!  And, of course, we very much look forward to meeting all those retreat leaders and participants who will be coming to La Roane to learn, experience its magic and just BE.
