We are very excited about running the beautiful retreat center La Roane starting January 2025.
Guests are housed in 2 beautiful buildings set around a large oval-shaped pool in a lovely sunny spot in the centre of the garden.
Accommodation is in comfortably furnished single and double rooms – indoor towels provided. Plenty of bathrooms for everyone. There is also a treehouse and a yurt with outdoor hot showers and compost toilets. They are at the entrance of the woods so perfect for star gazing and hearing the night owls. Just ask for it when booking, there is no extra charge.
The sauna and table- tennis table are nearby and free to use at your convenience, as is our extensive library.
One of the main attractions (apart from the course you are joining) at La Roane is the food.
Being well nourished is and always has been one of the cornerstones of this place. We believe that to feel well, we must be well nourished. All the meals are vegetarian and prepared by our very talented chefs. Breakfast is a buffet of fresh bread, fruits, eggs and other goodies. Lunch and evening meals are shared with your course group on the terrace or in the dining room during cooler months. Tea, coffee, biscuits and fresh fruit are available throughout the day. For those who wish, you may enjoy local wines with your dinner.
Courses take place either in a lovingly restored former barn with a high ceiling and exposed beams or in our outdoor yoga studio.
Between course activities, you are invited to relax by the pool, meditate or read a book in one of the hammocks or try out the sauna. Feel free to spend time exploring the library where you can also listen to music while sipping a cup of tea. There are bicycles to borrow and the surrounding oak forest invites all nature lovers to get lost in its serene environment.
We invite you to unplug, slow down and disconnect by leaving your phones in a box for the week. You will notice how mindfully coming back to yourself and connecting with nature will make you feel more grounded and at ease. Annika would be honored to organize mindfulness meditation sessions as well.
If time allows, you will get a chance to book a massage from one of the talented, local masseuses.
The beautiful medieval village of St Antonin-Noble-Val is a short drive -or a gorgeous walk- down by the Aveyron river. The amazing Sunday market is certainly worth a visit.
Some courses will allow time for going on an excursion, like the very popular 3 hour canoeing trip through the river’s spectacular limestone gorges where you may see herons and kingfishers. Those not canoeing will be offered an alternative excursion like visiting another mediaeval village, going on a walk followed by a picnic by the river. Or you may want to try rock climbing?
Do you have a friend or partner who would like to come to La Roane but not do the course? Ask for the reduction for non-participating guests. Always plenty to do and see so they won’t get bored.

One of our wishes is to move towards a more sustainable way of life. Therefore, we do encourage everyone to come as close as possible to La Roane by public transport. The Caussade train station is about a 15 minute drive away. We will pick up groups from there for free. Don’t hesitate to ask. If you are part of a group and wish to travel together from Toulouse airport, we can arrange for a pick up from there for a set fee per person.
We very much look forward to meeting you soon!
For the courses, go to the “courses” tab to explore.
Book early to avoid disappointment and for cheaper travel fares – courses usually fill up months in advance.
